May Weekend in London

May weekend is a great time to discover the exciting city of London which has a number of special events are held to keep visitors amused and entertained. As you would expect from a capital city, there are endless entertainment options to choose from in London, which include visiting world famous attractions, shopping and enjoying fine dining at one of the city’s excellent restaurants. 

The city boasts no fewer than five international airports, which means that visitors can fly to a London directly from anywhere in the world, including other parts of the United Kingdom. All of the airports feature direct rail or bus links to the heart of the city, meaning that visitors can be headed to their London hotel of choice in a matter of minutes.

London is a great place to indulge in a spot of shopping, and many of the main shopping zones hold special sales at this time of year to attract visitors. There are several special markets scattered through London which sell souvenirs, art work, handicrafts and a wide range of other items. London is probably THE best place to take in a show – so keep an eye out for some great last minute deals on theatre tickets.

People who choose to have a short break in London either alone or with the family will find that there is a lot going on. Some of the special events that are organized for this time of year include the vibrant North London Vintage Market, Spin London – the urban Cycle Show and Spitalfield Arts Market. London’s parks are great places to spend time relaxing over the weekend too. As well as being places to retreat to from the fast pace of the city, they are great for a picnic while soaking up the atmosphere, just remember to bring your scarf and gloves this year! Many parks also offer special activities such as punting on the river or learning about Greenwich Mean Time and discovering the galaxy at the Planetarium.

Visitors can find out what’s on by browsing the pages of local magazines and newspapers and checking out especially dedicated websites. Most of London’s main museums and art gallery also host special exhibitions which cover a wide range of different topics. All this and more mean that London is a great place to spend this May weekend.
